Sasha Rotts (b.1985) is an artist and art historian based in Helsinki.
After graduating from Stieglitz Academy (art history department), she worked in the Museum of Russian Art (the Soviet graphic department). In 2009, Sasha and her partner founded the artistic duo SASHAPASHA.
After moving to Finland in 2015, she was accepted (in 2016) and graduated (in 2020) from Vapaa Taidekoulu (Free Art School). She also received her BFA (2022) and MFA (2024) from the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki.
In March 2020, in the Exhibition Laboratory (Helsinki), artistic duo SASHAPASHA presented the result of their 5-year-long project Kanava, dedicated to the history of the Soviet labour camp system GULAG.
Rotts’ works are in the collections of CCA Zarya (Vladivostok), Vyksa city museum, Art-re-Flex Gallery (St.Petersburg), Norilsk city museum and Finnish Art Society – Art Lottery (2022,2024)
As a painter, she gets inspiration in many different things: travel, architecture, children's drawings, textile. In Rotts's works size doesn't matter, but the scale does.
